Waimakariri Community Arts Council presents “Cathy Irons – Gypsy Violin” on Friday 26th September 2014 at 7.30 p.m. in Chamber Gallery, Rangiora Library.
Cathy Irons, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra violinist and Italian pianist Flavio Villani will perform. The duo have worked and toured together since 2012 sharing a mutal interest in improvisation and musical expression. In their concert, “Gypsy Violin”, they explore repertoire influenced by folk traditions and East European composers, particularly those with strong dance elements and virtuoso characteristics. Their programme will include a selection of works by Monti, Dohnanyi, Essek, Dedman, Bartok, Shchedrin, Bloch and Sarasate.
Tickets are $25.00; Students $10.00 from Rangiora Library. Cash or cheque only please.
