WINNERS ANNOUNCED …

A large audience was treated to wonderful evening of music last night at the Aurora Centre by 3 amazing young musicians, accompanied by the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.   Please see attached link for further information Winners – 5th March 2016.  Photos will be available soon ….  watch this space!

THE FINALISTS  …

We were treated to 6 amazing performances last night at the National Concerto Competition Semi-Finals!  It was great to see a good audience in attendance.

Finalists- 5th March 2016  Please see link which details the Finalists for the 2015/2016 Competition.  This is being held on Saturday 5th March 2016, 7.30 p.m. at the Aurora Centre, Burnside High School.  

 ABOUT THE FINALISTS …

Kate Oswin is from Christchurch and she attended Burnside High School.  She is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London (Master of Arts).  She previously studied at the NZ School of Music and graduated in 2014 with( B. Mus Hons First Class).  Her future goal is looking forward to continuing her studies in Europe.

Sam Lucas is from Brisbane and is currently studying at Waikato University in Hamilton.  He is studying towards a B Mus Soloist Stream degree.  His future goal is to become a soloist and chamber musician in Europe or a major Cello teacher in a large music school.

Heather Lewis-Baker is from Wellington and is currently studying in Melbourne.  She has previously studied at the NZ School of Music and Sydney Conservatorium.  Her future goal is looking forward to continuing further study at the Australian National Academy of Music in 2016.

 OTHER PRIZE WINNERS …

At the semi-finals there were two other prizes awarded:

The Performer with the Most Potenial was awarded to Catherine Kwak – Cello –  (Auckland)

The Most Promising Canterbury Performer was awarded to Benedict Lim – Violin – (Christchurch)

 

SEMI-FINALISTS ANNOUNCED ….

Semi-Finalists  Please see attached link to the Semi-Finalists.  The Semi-Final is being held tonight (Friday 11th December) at 7.00 p.m. at The Grange Theatre, Middleton Grange Performing Arts Centre, 27 Arthur Street.  Door sales are $10.00 – CASH ONLY – NO EFTPOS AVAILABLE!

Welcome to the 49th National Concerto Competition!

This year the Competition is Instrumental. 

The Competition is being held in Christchurch on Thursday 10th December 2015 to Friday 11th December 2015 (Preliminaries and Semi-Finals). Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday 8th December and Wednesday 9th December.  

Venue is The Grange Theatre, Middleton Grange Performing Arts Centre, 27 Arthur Street, Upper Riccarton, Christchurch.

The Final will be held on Saturday 5th March 2016 at the Aurora Centre, Burnside High School.
