Woolston Brass presents “Christmas Brass Celebration” on Sunday 13th December 2020, 2.00 p.m. at James Hay Theatre, Christchurch Town Hall.

Founded in 1981, Woolston Brass Inc. exists today for its members to learn, play, perform and inspire each other and the community. Today the Woolston organisation has 100+ members across three brass bands and a learners group. Woolston Junior Band and Woolston Concert Brass from the pioneering Academy will showcase their talent in the first half of the concert led by Music Directors Sarah Hickman and Nick Johnson.
Many Academy members progress to Christchurch’s iconic Woolston Brass, who is known for their musical excellence and versatility as a popular stage performer and successful contesting band. Woolston Brass with Music Director Tyme Marsters will perform in the second half repertoire from their newly released Christmas Brass Celebration album including Leroy Anderson’s Christmas Festival and three outstanding soloists; Principal Cornet Anthony Smith performing O Holy Night, Principal Euphonium Robert Simpson performing We Three Kings and Principal Flugel Horn Kevin Hickman performing Away in a Manager.
The final numbers will combine members from all three bands offering something truly unique, the joy of playing and sharing music together at any age.
