Waimakairiri Community Arts Council presents “Lizzie Cook”

October 7, 2018 @ 2:00 pm

Free

Lizzie Cook, Sunday 7th October, 2pm. Chamber Gallery, Rangiora Library. THIS IS A FREE CONCERT!

After studying in Paris at the International Theater School, of Jacques Lecoq, Lizzie returned to Aotearoa taking up accordion. Lizzie Cook’s music is original, with influences from around the globe as diverse as Colombian cumbia, Argentinian tango, Eastern Europe, Celtic Nuances and jazz. When combined with Lizzies vocals a beautiful, a vibrant and warm atmosphere is created. The lyrical accordion melodies create a setting that is both exciting and poetic.

Chris Searle, on drums, accompanies Lizzie. They have worked together for twenty years, recording three of Lizzie’s four albums so far. Chris is a drummer of subtlety and skill, who is an equal complement to the accordion and vocals. He has worked with many musicians, particularly Pacific Underground.

Lizzie and Chris are a unique sound for a special concert. The lyrical accordion melodies create a setting that is both exciting and poetic.

Lizzie Cook, an accordion player influenced by music from around the world, combined with beautiful, vibrant vocals. Come enjoy the warm atmosphere that is created when she teams up with Chris Searle on drums.
