New Zealand Opera presents “Call of the Huia – Lost Arts Songs of Aotearoa” on Sunday 31st July 2022, 3.00 p.m. at The Piano, 156 Armagh Street, Christchurch
Come along and hear highlights from Michael Vinten’s recent 3 volume collection of mainly unpublished pre-1950 New Zealand Art Songs. Performers Wade Kernot, Catrin Johnsson, Oliver Sewell and Bruce Greenfield with provide a glimpse into the preoccupations and concerns of the times. Discover the significant contribution of women, both Maori and Pakeha, to music-making of this period as composers and poets.
