Tickets are available at the door – $10.00 waged; $5.00 unwaged; $20.00 families
The programme features viola soloist Anatoly Zelinsky playing works by Christchurch composers Patrick Shepherd (Shibui for viola and strings) and John Emeleus (My Aunt Jane). Also features is Hindemith’s Trauermusik for solo viola and string orchestra which was written to commemorate the death of King George V, and Ukrainian composer Miroslav Scorik’s passionate Recitativ from his Partita for strings.
Anatoly Zelinsky was born in Russia of Ukrainian origin, stuyding at the Moscow Conservatory and the Kiev Academy of Music. He was Principal Violist of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and in 1985 was conferred with the distinguished title of The Honoured Artists of Ukraine. Since then he has been Principal Violist with the Kristiansand Symphony, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
