Aeolus Saxophone Quartet featuring Mark Hobson – Jazz Series 2012 – 7.30 p.m.

Mark calls on his colleagues to join him in this ensemble – a very unique sound and texture rarely heard in New Zealand. Aeolus will explore this sound using repertoire especially written for this combination and arrangements of well known material.

The programme will feature original compositions by American Michael Torke, Australian Martin Kay and Christchurch Composer Glenn Forest.  With arrangements off Jazz Standards such as A Night in Tunisia, Round Midnight, My Funny Valentine and Fly me to the Moon.

As a special treat they will be joined by another 4 colleagues (Jennie Gough, Linda Drummond, Stacey Williams and Nathan Green) to play a couple of Octets.
