Join Woolston Concert Brass with Music Director Matt Toomata and Nor’west Brass with Music Director Nic Scott for Aotearoa Rhapsody, an unforgettable evening of music that honours New Zealand’s rich musical heritage and artistic brilliance. Held during New Zealand Music Month, this concert brings together an exquisite selection of works that reflect our nation’s history, landscapes, and spirit.
Featuring a compelling programme, Aotearoa Rhapsody showcases the beauty and power of brass music, from treasured traditional melodies to contemporary compositions. Highlights include:
- Pōkarekare Ana – the beloved Māori love song that has captured hearts for generations
- Gallipoli Lament – a poignant tribute by Grant Pitcher, evoking the ANZAC spirit
- Rhapsody in Brass – a masterful work by Kiwi composer Dean Goffin
- Invercargill – the rousing march by Alex Lithgow, a staple of New Zealand’s musical legacy
- Works from leading New Zealand composers, including Dale Vail (‘Petite Fanfare’, ‘Slep’), Kenneth Young (‘Reverie’), Dwayne Bloomfield (‘Precious Moments’), and Adair Sherriff.
