Annual FREE organ curator’s concert

October 18, 2020 @ 3:00 pm

Free

An annual FREE organ curator’s concert is being held on Sunday 18th October 2020, 3.00 p.m in Douglas Lilburn Auditorium, Christchurch Town Hall.

“Music for a Holiday” presented by city organist Martin Setchell.

On Sunday 18 October at 3pm, our Town Hall organist Martin
Setchell will give a FREE public concert. This replaces the original
concert, scheduled for 1 June (Queen’s Birthday Monday) which had
to be cancelled owing to Covid-19.
It is the first of what will become an annual Christchurch Town Hall
event: the Organ Curator’s Concert, thanks to the generous support
of Vbase, the City Council’s venue management company, and the
Friends of the Christchurch Town Hall Organ Trust.
Martin will introduce and play a programme of entertaining music in
his own inimitable style.
Music will include his own arrangement of Bach’s Sinfonia from
Cantata 29 and Khachaturian’s Sabre Dance, the Berceuse and Finale
from the Firebird Suite (Stravinsky), Scherzo in E Major (Gigout)
and the Carillon de Westminster (Louis Verne, born 150 years ago in
1870).
Admission will be FREE, but tickets MUST be booked online in advance.
Visit www.nzorgan.com to see when bookings open.
Only a limited number of stalls seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
