NZ Opera presents “A time to reflect – A memorial concert for Christchurch”
August 4, 2019 @ 2:00 pm
A time to reflect
A memorial concert for Christchurch
Sunday 4 August, 2pm
Christchurch Transitional Cathedral
After learning about the tragic events of 15 March, Egyptian Bass-Baritone Ashraf Sewailam, currently performing in The Barber of Seville, felt compelled to honour the victims in the best way he knew how – through song. Ashraf comments –
“I was deeply touched by the response of the people and government to the tragedy. What resonated with me the most was that such response made apparent how this beautiful country embraces pluralism and inclusion of all its residents and citizens regardless of colour or creed. It’s what made me feel the need to contribute by singing.”
Ashraf will joined by acclaimed soprano Amanda Atlas, with both singers accompanied by New Zealand Opera’s Director of Music, Wyn Davies. Entry is by koha with funds going towards the Our People, Our City fund administered by Victim Support.
We would be grateful if you would circulate this information to your teams and networks as this is a free event open to the public.
