Christopher Hutton, solo cello, will play in the Chamber Gallery, Rangiora Library on Tuesday 23rd May 2017 at 7.30 pm.
“Reflecting BACH” is a series of recitals by USA-based New Zealand cellist Christopher Hutton, celebrating the three-hundredth anniversary of Johann Sebastian Bach’s beloved six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello.
His program juxtaposes the music of Bach with later pieces by Max Reger, Benjamin Britten, and American composers William Bolcom, John Harbison, and John Corigliano – all inspired by Bach in different ways,and all written for solo cello.
Originally from Wellington, Christopher Hutton is the cellist of the Poinsett Piano Trio and Associate Professor of Violoncello at Furman University, South Carolina. He has performed widely, including solo and chamber music recitals in New Zealand, USA and Europe.
