2026 Ruby Hay Scholarship Winners Announced …
The 42nd Ruby Hay Pianoforte Competition was held on a Saturday 5th September 2026 at The Piano House, 283 Riccarton Road, Christchurch.
We had three young pianists who each played three works by three different composers within a 30-minute timeframe. I would like to congratulate all three contestants and the adjudicator Marlene Verwey-Cooper noted all contestants played beautifully with a lot of colour in their performances and each had chosen interesting and appropriate programmes.
The results are as follows:
First prize – Michael Khor ($1,000.00 – Ruby Hay Scholarship prize)
Second prize – Boting Yang ($200.00 – The Lois MacKintosh prize donated by Institute of Registered Music Teachers, Christchurch branch)
Third prize – Alex Holster ($100.00 – kindly donated by Marnie Barrell)
