SUMMARY:John Cage: Organ2 / ASLSP
DESCRIPTION:John Cage: Organ2 / ASLSP \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/435777443851326/ \n“experience the worlds longest composition… on the shortest day” \nOrganist Daniel Cooper will perform the New Zealand premiere of revolutionary American composer John Cage’s most feared organ work on the 22nd of June 2019. This performance will begin at 10am and end at 10pm. Audience members are invited to arrive at and depart from the performance at their leisure. \nDaniel Cooper is a postgraduate student at the University of Canterbury who studied performance organ with Paul Ellis\, and is currently studying towards a MMus in conducting with Professor Mark Menzies. Daniel is particularly passionate about directing and performing (often at the same time!) “un-sung” master works for organ\, choir\, and orchestra. Recently\, Daniel has been responsible for several New Zealand premiers of new music by Philip Glass\, Arvo Part\, John Cage\, and La Monte Young.

SUMMARY:Waimakariri Community Arts Council presents "The Chaperone Trio"
DESCRIPTION:The Chaperone Trio\, of Jane Jarrett\, Jillaine Wilson\, Margaret Maw will intrigue and delight you with this unique piano art form! 6 hands and one piano! \nSunday 23rd June\, 2pm \nChamber Gallery \nRangiora Library \nFree admission \nMargaret\, Jane and Jillaine are registered piano teachers in the Waimakariri district.  They played piano duets for many years before deciding to embark on a new adventure.  Trinity College London released their exam syllabus of Piano For Six Hands in 2014.  It was this that became the catalyst to explore new repertoire as a threesome. \nThe teachers sat the Advanced Certificate\, the first in New Zealand to do so\, and passed with distinction in 2017.  In fact\, it was also a first for the examiner who had never examined that medium before! \nThe group has continued to meet and perform regularly in North Canterbury.  They have begun to rearrange music for recitals\, as this relatively new art form in the history of piano repertoire continues to interest both audiences and younger performers who enjoy the camaraderie that group piano playing offers. \n
