DESCRIPTION:Nut Point Centre presents “Mark Hobson & Friends” – Concert No. 1 J.S on Saturday 30th August 2014 at 7.30 p.m. \nSince joining the Royal New Zealand Navy Band as lead saxophonist and soloist at the start of 2013 in Auckland Mark didn’t have many opportunities to play in Canterbury.  It’s a great pleasure for Mark to get friends together to perform this recital.  Mark will be joined by: \nJennie Gough\, Stacey Williams\, Lana Law in the Aeolus Saxophone Quartet.  Playing a mix of standards\, Tango and contemporary New Zealand works including Philip Norman “Blues”.  \nNoeline Hobson and Alison Holden will be accompanying Mark in a couple of classical/jazz works by Australian composers Stuart Greenbaum and Katy Abbott.  Up and coming Christchurch pianst Matthew Everingham and Mark will round off the programme with a duo set of standards and an original that Matthew is writing for this concert.
