DESCRIPTION:Camerata Strings presents “Viola Showcase” on Sunday 22nd June 2014 at 3.00 p.m. at St Augustine’s Church\, Cracroft Terrace\, Cashmere\, Christchurch \nTickets are available at the door – $10.00 waged; $5.00 unwaged; $20.00 families \nThe programme features viola soloist Anatoly Zelinsky playing works by Christchurch composers Patrick Shepherd (Shibui for viola and strings) and John Emeleus (My Aunt Jane).  Also features is Hindemith’s Trauermusik for solo viola and string orchestra which was written to commemorate the death of King George V\, and Ukrainian composer Miroslav Scorik’s passionate Recitativ from his Partita for strings. \nAnatoly Zelinsky was born in Russia of Ukrainian origin\, stuyding at the Moscow Conservatory and the Kiev Academy of Music.  He was Principal Violist of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and in 1985 was conferred with the distinguished title of The Honoured Artists of Ukraine.  Since then he has been Principal Violist with the Kristiansand Symphony\, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.

DESCRIPTION:CBS Music presents “Lunch with a School” on Wednesday 2nd July 2014 at 1.10 p.m. at St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral\, 373 Manchester Street. (Cathedral Cafe open from 12.45pm) \nDelicious light lunch options are available from 12.45 p.m. in the “Cathedral Cafe” located at the entrance to the Pro-Cathedral. \n2nd July – Lunch with St Andrew’s College:  \nArts Co-ordinator Margot Button introduces choirs\, a small orchestra\, some saxophonists – and maybe a lone bagpipe!  Watch this space. \nAdmission: $10 and $5 – available at the door.  Proceeds from the lunchtime concerts will contribute to the construction of a suite of rooms\, to be built alongside the Pro-Cathedral\, which will provide rehearsal\, storage and administration space for the Cathedral Choir and Orchestra for the immediate future. \n
